Love letter to a stranger

Tuesday evening on February 21 at Weller Book Works, strangers gathered together to write love letters to strangers.

More love Letters is an organization that was founded by Hannah Brencher, back in 2011. It started with Brencher when she began to write love letters to strangers on the 4 train in NYC.

More Love letters is an organization that dedicates itself to writing love letters to strangers as a form of spreading kindness.

The pop-up event located at Trolley Square invited people within the community to come and write love letters and scatter them around the city afterwards. With a large turn out, tables were filled and letters were written.

“I loved writing my whole life. I’ve always journaled since elementary school but I discovered love letters in high school. And have always left them around. I use to leave them around my high school, either in people’s lockers or the library. Once I got to college I left them around campus, and different places I hung out at. One time I was hosting a meeting and only one student showed up because I don’t know, it was a slow day. And we went to this coffeeshop and found one of her friends and they said, ‘hey I received one of these love letters in this coffee shop that we’re all at right now.’ And then he pulls it out of his backpack and it’s a letter that I left. And he’s like I carry it with me  because when I found it I was going through some stuff and it keeps me positive. So I was super overjoyed that it has that impact on people.”
Chloe Jakiela (More Love Letters Organizer)

"I think it kind of goes back to what I was saying earlier. Of writing a note of encouragement or a love letter is reminding people that there are good beautiful things and good beautiful people still in the world. And I think we all need reminders from time to time."
Amanda Stolba (Attendee)
